GM Middle East has positioned autonomous vehicles as a key pillar, aligning closely with the UAE’s efforts to achieve net zero emissions across its emirates, namely Dubai – evidenced by Dubai’s Autonomous Transportation Strategy.
Celebrating the work already underway with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority to introduce autonomous taxis to the roads of Dubai, GM-majority-backed Cruise marked its appearance at Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport in September 2023. Bringing together a diverse cross section of industry expertise, the event offered insight into best practice within the autonomous mobility space and how this can be brought to life within the nation, at scale.
GM Middle East will continue efforts to feed into the emirate’s strategy, which aims to transform 25% of the total transportation in Dubai to autonomous by 2030, across self-driving taxis, buses and abras. By supporting this transition and maintaining a presence at such events, GM is contributing towards creating a safer, sustainable, and more connected community, while fostering knowledge-sharing to drive innovation in the region.
